  • Amalna at De Komma, The Hague

Join us for a summer of photography, music, film and conversation exploring hope, migration and belonging.

We’re very excited to invite you to Amalna Collective at De Komma in The Hague this August: a month-long program bringing together art, stories and encounters around hope, migration and belonging.

At the heart of the program is Portraits of Hope, Amalna Collective’s first exhibition, featuring handmade analogue portraits by Afghan photographer Ferdows Faghir, created with his traditional Afghan Box Camera (Kamra-e-Faoree). Alongside the portraits, visitors can listen to personal audio stories in which the people portrayed reflect on hope and life in times of uncertainty.

Amalna @ The Spirit of Amsterdam

We are happy to announce that Amalna will be a part of The Spirit of Amsterdam 2025!

The Spirit of Amsterdam is a 3-day citywide festival that takes place in houses of worship across Amsterdam. It transforms some of the city’s most beautiful — and sometimes hidden — locations into theaters, dance floors, meditation rooms, cinemas, or dining spaces. The first edition of The Spirit of Amsterdam took place in 2024 and attracted over 12,000 visitors to 90 events in 40 different houses of worship. For three days, churches, mosques, synagogues, and temples became places of music, rituals, and stillness.

Each year, artists from all disciplines are invited to submit a proposal through an open call. The selection committee chooses the most compelling ideas, which are then matched with a house of worship and brought to life. Amalna’s proposal was accepted, and we will be hosting a night at The Thomaskerk on the 28th of November!
